About the role#
RidgeTech Automation offers a co-op program designed to build technical expertise through hands-on projects. You will work under the direction of Team Leads to support critical business operations. This role is for the Winter 2027 term, with 4 or 8 month options available. You will work 40 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm.
What you'll do#
- Create software and digital solutions for SCADA and MES clients.
- Develop code using JSON, Python, T-SQL, HTML, JAVA, and .NET.
- Design functional specifications and process flow diagrams.
- Integrate database applications with real-time and PLC-controlled automation systems.
- Execute preliminary visual samples for quotes and concepts.
- Test, commission, and debug client systems, both remotely and on-site.
- Maintain accurate project documentation.
- Adhere to company policies and keep safety training current.
What you'll need#
- Current enrolment in a post-secondary co-op program for Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems, or Robotics & Automation.
- Experience with JSON, Python, JAVA.NET, T-SQL, or HTML/CSS.
- Exposure to database modeling and optimization techniques.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitudes.
- Ability to communicate clearly with clients and team members.
- A valid Class G license and reliable transportation.
- Programming experience with PLCs is an asset.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Cambridge, Ontario.
- Work is on-site at the office or at local client sites.
- Some after-hours or weekend support may be required based on project needs.
