About the role#
RidgeTech Automation is hiring two co-op students for the Winter 2027 term. This role offers hands-on experience in system integration through mentorship and direct project work. You will contribute to electrical design, programming, and technical tasks while working both independently and as part of a team.
What you'll do#
- Adhere to company policies and the health and safety program.
- Participate in electrical and fluid power design.
- Develop PLC, HMI, SCADA, and MES software.
- Program and set up robots and motion control systems.
- Work on peripheral systems like vision and weld systems.
- Use Jira to track tasks and document work progress.
- Support client relationships and project scope under manager guidance.
- Assist with testing, commissioning, and debugging of automation systems.
- Ensure project documentation remains accurate and current.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant standards and codes.
- Use non-chargeable time productively and support other business operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrolment in a post-secondary co-op program for Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems, Robotics, or a related field.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate well with clients and teammates.
- A positive attitude and a desire to learn.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Flexibility to work with various vendors' hardware and software.
- A valid Class G driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Experience with Java, HTML, Python, Visual Basic, or database programming is an asset.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Cambridge, Ontario.
- Work is on-site at the office and local client locations.
- This is a full-time, paid co-op placement for the Winter 2027 term.
