About the role#
The Avionics team manages the full lifecycle of the electrical systems on our rockets. This includes designing, building, testing, and operating the hardware that controls the vehicle in flight, manages telemetry, and deploys payloads. As an intern, you will join one of our focused sub-teams, such as Electrical Development, Systems Integration and Test, or Mechatronics Integration. You will work alongside propulsion, GNC, fluids, and stage engineering teams to ensure our systems function reliably in space environments.
What you'll do#
- Design hardware solutions that survive the harsh conditions of launch and space.
- Build, test, and integrate hardware for vehicle control, telemetry, and payload deployment.
- Support vehicle systems including sensors, propulsion, computing, actuation, energy management, and communications.
- Develop electrical and mechanical test fixtures and tools.
- Collaborate across different engineering departments to iterate on designs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS program in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, computer, or industrial engineering, or computer science.
- Familiarity with electronics or PCBA design.
- Experience with electrical harness design and routing.
- Proficiency in mechanical design using CAD software.
- Practical experience with the bring-up and integration of electrical systems for large-scale projects.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Long Beach, California.
- The position operates on a rolling basis.
