About the role#
The Components team manages fluid control devices across the Terran R vehicle. You will work on the valves suite and COPVs. You will own aspects of these products and coordinate with Propulsion, Avionics, and Stage Fluids teams. Because design, manufacturing, and test assets are co-located, you will use real world performance data to iterate on your work. You will also develop new designs and improve existing ones to increase reliability and performance.
What you'll do#
- Support the development of the Terran R valves suite.
- Support the development of COPVs for Terran R.
- Collaborate with partner teams including Propulsion, Avionics, and Stage Fluids.
- Use real world data from design, manufacturing, and test assets to iterate on designs.
- Advance products by creating clean-sheet designs and refining current ones.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Mechanical, Computer, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Direct experience applying engineering fundamentals in thermodynamics, structures, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Matlab, Python, or C++.
- Experience using CFD and FEA tools.
- Experience with NX modeling and CAD dataset generation.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Long Beach, California.
- The internship follows a rolling schedule.
