About the role#
As a Software Engineering Intern, you will join the Networks and Connectivity Engineering division in Annapolis, Maryland. You will contribute to the development of the GLOBALink communications system, which supports worldwide aviation infrastructure. This role involves working within a team environment to deliver software solutions using disciplined, ISO/SEI CMMI compliant processes.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the full software development life cycle, from design and implementation to testing and deployment.
- Analyze system requirements to create sub-system software designs.
- Develop software for air-ground and ground-ground communications, including routing protocols and positional data processing.
- Support large-scale network infrastructure with a focus on security, redundancy, and high availability.
- Collaborate with network engineering, field operations, and system performance teams.
- Assist with product deployment, field monitoring, troubleshooting, and operator training.
- Participate in lab and field integration with Air Navigation Service Providers.
- Support project planning, execution, and closure activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program in a STEM field.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the internship.
- U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
- Knowledge of the commercial aviation industry.
- Experience with Linux, network protocols, high availability, and security.
- Familiarity with disciplined development processes in a team environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Previous aerospace experience or prior RTX internship experience is a plus.

- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site in Annapolis, Maryland.
