About the role#
The Embedded Product Cybersecurity Engineering team is looking for a Secure System Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This team supports product development across the company to secure systems exposed to cyber threats through connectivity or public networks. You will work on cyber-resilient systems, support design teams, and help identify residual design or implementation defects that could impact system integrity.
What you'll do#
- Assist with developing and executing fuzzing and penetration tests to evaluate attack surface robustness.
- Develop threat models and data flow diagrams to ensure data is properly isolated in transit and at rest.
- Implement mandatory access controls by developing SELinux policies.
- Participate in code reviews to identify weaknesses in security function implementations.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments on proposed and in-service systems.
- Develop and improve tools and scripts to enhance the efficacy of the Embedded Product Cybersecurity team.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Actively enrolled through the completion of the internship and have at least 60 credit hours by the start date.
- Solid understanding of fundamental cybersecurity principles.
- High proficiency in Python programming.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
- Basic knowledge of network protocols and secure architectures.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Completed coursework or personal projects focusing on embedded systems security.
- Experience with embedded system integration and testing.
- Understanding of IP networking architectures and concepts.
- Knowledge of version control systems like Git.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Tool Suite.
- U.S. citizenship is required.

- This is a full-time, paid, on-site position located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
