About the role#
Rainmaker Technology Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role involves working directly with the Lead Mechanical Engineer on mission-critical subsystems for UAS platforms. You will contribute to the development of radar validation, weather-resistant UAS, and dispersion payload systems.
What you'll do#
- Design and build functional prototypes for UAS subsystems, iterating based on flight test feedback.
- Conceptualize, design, build, and run test fixtures for prototype components.
- Define loading and boundary conditions, set up FEA studies, and validate results.
- Write technical documentation and prepare fabrication and assembly data for manufacturers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency in CAD, specifically Solidworks.
- Experience with Solidworks FEA, including linear static, linear dynamic, nonlinear dynamic, and thermal analysis.
- Experience with basic manufacturing and prototyping using 3D printers.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
- Sheet metal design and manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Experience taking a product from the conceptual to production stage is preferred.
- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Civil, Industrial, Computer, or Environmental Engineering, or Graphic Design.
