About the role#
Public Health Ontario is looking for a student to join the Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH) team. This role supports priority initiatives related to health hazards, safe water, and food safety. You will apply your analytical and communication skills to help the team provide scientific and technical advice to partners in government and health care.
What you'll do#
- Support daily operations regarding health hazards, water safety, and food safety.
- Conduct literature reviews by creating search strategies, screening documents, and drafting annotations.
- Manage reference files using tools like Zotero.
- Perform basic statistical analysis, including descriptive work.
- Organize and manage documents on SharePoint.
- Develop materials such as emails, slides, and briefings for various audiences.
- Create project management tools including process maps and Gantt charts.
- Assist with meeting planning, logistics, and documentation.
- Apply critical thinking to identify process improvements and next steps for projects.
- Collaborate with the EOH team and public health partners to produce deliverables.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program in Public Health, Health Sciences, Toxicology, or Environmental Sciences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with SharePoint.
- Strong written communication, time-management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under multiple deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
- Experience with SharePoint website management and subject matter expertise in environmental or public health are considered assets.
Location & details#
- Location: 661 University, Toronto, Ontario.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Part-time, up to 29 hours per week.
- Duration: Fixed term until March 31, 2027.
