About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience within our credit analyst and lending teams. You will gain insight into the banking industry through formal training and daily collaboration. You will also learn how various departments, including Treasury Management, Private Banking, and Merchant Services, work together to provide comprehensive service to our customers.
What you'll do#
- Observe the day-to-day work of Loan Officers and Credit Analysts.
- Practice spreading financial statements and underwriting loans of varying complexity.
- Perform analysis and ask questions to improve the underwriting of loan requests.
- Participate in loan committee meetings to understand the approval process.
- Review loan set-up worksheets and help Loan Officers and Assistants complete packages for booking and funding.
- Observe how we generate new business through networking, prospecting, and referrals.
- Conduct industry research to understand our target customer profile and prepare prospect materials.
- Network with leaders in the lending division and meet with product partners to learn about complementary services.
- Interact with employees, vendors, and clients to build communication skills.
- Participate in training opportunities through the Banker Development Program.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a four-year, accredited college or university.
- A major or concentration in Finance or Accounting is strongly preferred, though supplemental coursework in these areas will be considered.
- Good academic standing at your college or university.
- Eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically word processing and spreadsheets.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated customer service and teamwork skills.
