About the role#
PrimeLending is hiring an IT Audit Intern for Summer 2027. You will work within our Internal Audit department to gain hands-on experience in the financial services industry. You will assist our Internal Audit Manager with various initiatives while learning the fundamentals of audit functions, risk management, and internal controls.
What you'll do#
- Learn about SOX controls used in financial reporting processes.
- Study audit methodology, including sampling, documentation standards, and issue writing.
- Accompany the team to SOX process walkthrough interviews, take notes, and complete documentation.
- Perform audit tests of SOX, business, and IT general controls.
- Check sampled evidence against specified criteria and identify any exceptions.
- Provide input during discussions with management regarding identified exceptions.
- Fill out workpaper templates to document test results and conclusions.
- Draft language for audit issues to be reported to management.
- Participate in discussions about SOX control issues and provide examples.
- Manage your own time to complete tasks within established timeframes and report your work status to your manager.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior standing in MIS, computer science, or a related IT field.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to initiate tasks and follow up to completion as a self-starter.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- A desire to learn about audit and financial services career paths.
- Authorization to work for any employer in the US without requiring sponsorship.
