About the role#
We are looking for an IT Intern to join our team in a remote capacity. This role provides hands-on experience in enterprise infrastructure, cloud environments, and network security. You will work directly with our IT management team to support infrastructure initiatives, strengthen network security, and optimize our virtual and cloud-based systems.
What you'll do#
- Assist with firewall and network security management, including auditing configurations and supporting perimeter defense.
- Support the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of resources within our Microsoft Azure environment.
- Help with infrastructure management, such as hardware refreshes and system optimization for local and remote office environments.
- Investigate current IT workflows to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and performance.
- Provide technical troubleshooting and support for infrastructure issues alongside IT staff.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation for systems, procedures, and configurations.
- Monitor system performance and identify potential security or operational risks.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Strong interest in IT infrastructure, networking, and cloud systems.
- Foundational knowledge of networking concepts like TCP/IP, VLANs, and firewall technologies.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, self-starter mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex technical procedures.
- Experience with PowerShell or similar scripting languages is preferred.
- Familiarity with security frameworks like NIST 800-171 is a plus.
- Experience with Azure or firewall technical stacks like Fortinet, Cisco, or SonicWall is a plus.
- Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments through coursework, labs, or prior internships is preferred.
