About the role#
This is a full-time Mechanical Engineering Internship for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on-site in Sterling, Virginia. Please note that U.S. citizenship is required for this position to access project information.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the development, modification, integration, and testing of aircraft and ground vehicle training simulators.
- Perform mechanical design and layout of simulator components, structures, and facilities using 3D CAD software.
- Create and review 2D CAD drawings, applying standard dimensioning and tolerancing practices.
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure design alignment.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM major.
- You must be actively enrolled through the completion of the internship.
- Experience with 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks or Creo Parametric.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with the design, manufacture, and integration of mechanical hardware of moderate complexity.
- Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) software.
