About the role#
As a Monitoring & Insights Intern, you will support the Penta Intelligence division by helping global clients understand stakeholder sentiment, media coverage, and emerging risks. You will work with large volumes of news, media, and proprietary data to produce real-time alerts and longer-form analysis. This role involves tracking developments as they unfold, identifying key drivers behind trends, and translating data into actionable insights to inform client strategy and decision-making.
What you'll do#
- Monitor news and events across print, digital, television, radio, and social media platforms.
- Collaborate with a team of analysts to alert clients to news in a timely and effective manner.
- Collect and prepare data to support media analysis and scheduled report deliveries.
- Assist with long-term research projects.
- Create pivot tables from Excel report data.
- Update report graphics and charts for review.
- Write descriptive text to communicate the stories behind data.
- Validate and interpret automated scoring regarding reputation risk and stakeholder views.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor's degree in any discipline, with a preference for communications, journalism, economics, history, or other social sciences.
- Experience writing analytical reports and creating presentations using Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
- A solid understanding of Excel for exploratory data analysis and visualization.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills.
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand the deeper meaning behind content and data.
- Strong attention to detail, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Location & details#
- Term: Summer 2026 (3 months, with the possibility of extension).
- Schedule: 35-40 hours per week, 11 am - 7 pm PT shift. Rotational weekend shifts (2 pm - 5 pm PT) on Saturdays and Sundays are required every six weeks.
- Modality: Remote (applicants must be located on the West Coast of the United States).
- Compensation: $20 per hour (non-exempt, eligible for overtime).
- Status: Full-time internship.
