About the role#
As a Data Engineer Intern, you will support our data and analytics initiatives by working alongside experienced professionals. You will gain hands-on experience with modern cloud technologies and contribute to projects that improve business decision-making. This role mirrors the responsibilities of an entry-level data professional, offering you the chance to build technical skills in a collaborative environment.
What you'll do#
- Work as part of a Scrum team to develop and support data engineering solutions.
- Write PySpark notebooks and SQL queries to extract, transform, and load data within Azure Databricks.
- Create and orchestrate data jobs to support integration, reporting, and data quality initiatives.
- Support enterprise platforms including Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Logic Apps, Informatica, Power BI, REST APIs, and SQL Server databases.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver data-driven solutions.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Contribute to an individual project and collaborate on a cross-functional team project.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science & Analytics, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong academic standing.
- A foundation in Python, SQL, or related programming languages.
- Basic knowledge of version control tools like Git and GitHub.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn new technical concepts.
Location & details#
- Term: Summer 2027 (End of May through early August).
- Location: On-site in Pella, Iowa or Urbandale, Iowa.
- Compensation: $29.00 per hour.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
