About the role#
The ITS Help Desk Student Representative provides technical support and customer service to the university community. You will work from the ITS Help Desk and 311 Call Center to resolve user issues, maintain department equipment, and perform administrative tasks. This is an on-site, part-time position.
What you'll do#
- Provide technical support via phone, email, chat, and in-person interactions.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues for PCs, Macs, and mobile devices.
- Assist users with account activation, password resets, wireless connectivity, and printer issues.
- Use remote support tools to resolve problems for on-campus and off-campus users.
- Manage support tickets by creating, triaging, and updating them in the system.
- Maintain computer labs and classrooms, including cleaning and organizing equipment.
- Create and update technical documentation for the knowledge base.
- Perform miscellaneous clerical duties and administrative support tasks.
What you'll need#
- General computing skills and familiarity with basic troubleshooting methods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Windows, and Mac O/S.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently in a busy environment.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Dependability and the ability to make independent decisions.
Location & details#
- Location: Pleasantville, New York.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week during the school session and up to 35 hours per week during breaks. Specific hours are determined with your supervisor.
- Eligibility: Open to students in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Cybersecurity programs.
