About the role#
As a Graduate Student Sciences Specialist, you will work with students and tutors in the fields of Biology and Chemistry. The goal is to help students become independent learners through one-on-one and small group support. You will also provide content training to tutors and assist with administrative tasks within the Learning Commons.
What you'll do#
- Lead scheduled and walk-in tutoring sessions for Pace students.
- Run weekly meetings, assessments, and training for student tutors.
- Host exam reviews, workshops, and classroom visits.
- Create educational resources for faculty and students.
- Manage and update materials on the Learning Commons SharePoint site.
- Observe tutoring sessions and provide feedback.
- Record session details accurately in TracCloud.
- Assist with daily operations and special projects as needed.
What you'll need#
- An undergraduate degree in a STEM field.
- A GPA of 3.4 or higher from your undergraduate studies.
- Advanced computer skills relevant to Biology or Chemistry.
- Experience adjusting your teaching style to meet different student needs.
- Previous tutoring experience is preferred.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong communication skills to interact with diverse groups.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week during the semester and up to 35 hours per week during breaks.
- Term: Rolling.
