About the role#
The Blue CoLab is a student-run and faculty-supervised environmental monitoring program. We are looking for a student intern to join our team for the Fall 2026 term. This is a paid, on-site role. You will work at the Gale Epstein Center Data Lab in Pleasantville and our technology lab in Ossining. You should be a self-starter who works well with other students and faculty. We value those who are ready to get their feet wet and apply technology to real-world environmental problems.
What you'll do#
- Configure, deploy, and operate data collection stations in the water and other locations.
- Manage backend infrastructure to support real-time data management.
- Monitor the performance of our equipment and services.
- Create training programs for students and professionals.
- Develop internet-enabled tools and websites.
- Support student teams, including Blue CoLab courses and the UN Millennium Fellowship program.
- Help with marketing, events, and communication tasks.
What you'll need#
- Experience with programming, debugging, and technical troubleshooting.
- Skills in database programming and management.
- Background in developing and maintaining web applications, mobile apps, and APIs.
- Familiarity with project management and source control tools like GitHub.
- An aptitude for learning new technologies.
- Previous experience with the Blue CoLab or the UN Millennium Fellowship is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Pleasantville and Ossining, New York.
- Term: September 2026 to December 2026.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Maximum 20 hours per week during the school session and up to 35 hours per week during breaks. Exact hours are set with your supervisor.
