IT Admin Co-Op

About the role#

Oxy is seeking an IT Admin Co-Op to support Business, Engineering, and Operations users at our Squamish facility. This role involves working closely with the IT Administrator to provide infrastructure support services, manage hardware, and assist with user onboarding. You will gain hands-on experience in a computing environment that integrates on-premise, cloud, and industrial services.

What you'll do#

• Provide help desk and technical support for operating systems, hardware, networks, and general software systems.
• Assist with the procurement, installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT hardware and software.
• Troubleshoot system and program issues while monitoring networks and servers.
• Implement security protocols and procedures to mitigate potential threats.
• Manage user accounts, access controls, and software licenses.
• Document IT processes, perform data backups, and develop recovery procedures.
• Train users on standard hardware and software systems.
• Maintain a positive safety culture by identifying and reporting workplace hazards.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a co-op program through a recognized post-secondary institution in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Engineering.
• Experience with fundamental concepts of IT environments.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
• Ability to explain complex IT topics to stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
• A diplomatic approach to balancing competing departmental goals.
• Familiarity with security controls is considered an asset.

• Location: Squamish, British Columbia, Canada.
• Term: Summer 2026.
• Modality: On-site, full-time (40 hours per week).
