About the role#
Oxy is seeking an IT Admin Co-Op to join the team in Squamish for a Summer 2026 term. This full-time, on-site role focuses on developing IT support skills while assisting the IT Administrator with infrastructure support services for business, engineering, and operations users. You will gain hands-on experience in a computing environment that includes on-premise, cloud, and industrial services.
What you'll do#
- Provide help desk and technical support for operating systems, hardware, networks, and general software systems.
- Assist with the procurement of IT hardware and maintain IT inventory.
- Troubleshoot problems with systems and programs.
- Implement security protocols and procedures to prevent potential threats.
- Create user accounts and perform access control.
- Monitor and maintain networks and servers while upgrading, installing, and configuring new hardware and software.
- Document processes, manage data backups, and archive data.
- Develop data retrieval and recovery procedures.
- Manage software licenses and provide training on standard hardware and software.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a co-op program at a recognized post-secondary institution in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Engineering.
- Familiarity with fundamental concepts of IT environments.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to explain technical topics to individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Familiarity with security controls is considered an asset.
