About the role#
As a Power Engineering Student, you will join our operations team to manage the day-to-day requirements of plant operations. This position allows you to gain required steam time and hands-on exposure to an oil industry environment. You will receive coaching from an experienced team to help develop your career. Please note that these placements are reserved for students requiring steam time as per ABSA regulations. University students will not be considered for these positions.
What you'll do#
- Monitor the unit to ensure all production rates are achieved and maintained.
- Assist in daily rounds and routines associated with all steam generators.
- Learn the layout, purpose, and operating parameters of your designated area.
- Assist Operators in the preparation and maintenance of equipment.
- Participate in safety programs and maintain a safe work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Power Engineering Program.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to work in extremes of temperature and physical fitness for site conditions.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a reasonably clean driver’s abstract.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

- Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada.
- Terms available: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027.
- Work modality: On-site.
- This is a full-time, paid position.
