About the role#
As an AI Engineer Intern for Summer 2027, you will contribute to the development and deployment of artificial intelligence and intelligent software solutions. You will work alongside engineering and technology teams to integrate these solutions into real-world products and applications. Your specific project assignment may involve machine learning, computer vision, edge AI, embedded systems, vehicle intelligence, or connectivity.
What you'll do#
- Design, train, evaluate, and deploy machine learning and AI models on GPU servers, cloud platforms, or edge devices.
- Process and analyze structured and unstructured datasets, including imagery and sensor data.
- Develop data pipelines and model deployment workflows from cloud to edge.
- Integrate AI and ML models into applications, embedded systems, electronic control units, or vehicle platforms.
- Assist in developing software modules that support vehicle intelligence, connectivity, and automation.
- Test embedded and AI-enabled applications across hardware, vehicle networks, and software environments.
- Use simulation environments and testing frameworks to validate algorithms and system functionality.
- Conduct experiments and benchmark algorithms for performance, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Support software integration, over-the-air capabilities, and vehicle software lifecycle activities.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and system architecture development.
- Document system designs, test procedures, model behavior, and performance metrics.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Coursework or experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, embedded systems, or statistics.
- Programming experience with Python, C++, or other relevant languages.
- Familiarity with Linux environments.
- Interest in applying AI and software technologies to real-world engineering challenges.
- Willingness to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, for the summer.
- Preferred experience includes TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, computer vision, GPU or NPU computing, Edge AI, embedded software, CAN bus, AUTOSAR, or cloud-to-edge architectures.
