About the role#
This is a six-month, full-time internship focused on supporting laboratory testing for our R&D team. You will help turn engineering requirements into practical test plans, organize evidence from test execution, and prepare draft reports. This role involves working across our engineering teams and external consultants to ensure test readiness and clear documentation. While this position is remote, you may have the option to travel to test sites including our Houston laboratory or the National Laboratory of the Rockies.
What you'll do#
- Develop test plans and procedures that define objectives, hardware or software setup, and acceptance criteria.
- Track key resources, dependencies, and open items to support test readiness.
- Maintain test logs and organize supporting data, observations, and evidence.
- Coordinate status information across R&D, Commissioning Engineering, and external consultants.
- Document deviations and open questions for engineering review.
- Build a reusable tool to ingest lab test data and produce consistent graphs.
- Check data quality, create plots, and compare results against defined criteria.
- Draft test reports and summaries that distinguish measured facts from interpretations.
- Maintain organized revisions and evidence in our internal repositories.
- Improve templates and workflows for test planning and reporting.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a B.S. or M.S. in electrical engineering, data science, or a related technical field.
- Coursework or project experience in power systems, energy storage, power electronics, or laboratory testing.
- Working knowledge of Excel.
- Experience with Python, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar data-analysis tools.
- Strong technical writing skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to organize engineering information across a distributed team.
- Ability to follow laboratory safety, access, and confidentiality requirements.
