About the role#
This position supports laboratory operations and patient care at Ochsner Health. You will perform various laboratory functions and clinical assignments to support departmental goals. This is an on-site, paid position based in Meridian, Mississippi, suitable for students in Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or Public Health.
What you'll do#
- Conduct phlebotomy procedures.
- Process, receive, accession, and distribute laboratory specimens.
- Perform and result specific test procedures.
- Adapt your communication and behavior to the specific patient population, including requests for permission and explanation of services.
- Resolve problems and exhibit cooperation within the laboratory team.
What you'll need#
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Computer skills necessary for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
- Knowledge of venipuncture procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly.

- Location: Meridian, Mississippi.

- Physical requirements: Ability to perform medium work, including lifting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, sitting for prolonged periods, and traveling between facilities. Routine exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, and potential communicable diseases is expected.
