About the role#
The Clinical Extern program offers nursing students the chance to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting. You will work as an unregulated health care provider to build your clinical skills and deepen your understanding of the healthcare environment. You will report to a manager and work alongside an identified staff nurse to support the nursing team.
What you'll do#
- Perform fundamental patient care duties.
- Assist with the daily functioning of the nursing team at the patient care level.
- Work within a model of care to gain an understanding of RN and RPN roles.
- Operate within an interprofessional team environment.
- Contribute to a positive experience for patients and their families.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited School of Nursing, specifically entering year 3 or higher of a BScN program.
- Current BCLS certification.
- A proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- A satisfactory performance record.
- The ability to work all shifts as necessary.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and prioritization skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Markham, Ontario, Canada.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour day shifts (schedules may change based on operational needs).
- Employment type: Part-time, temporary (until approximately March 2027).
