About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Nucor Steel Brandenburg, you will work directly with our maintenance and production teams. This role is hands-on and focuses on the safety, cost, and reliability of our steel-making operations. You will spend your time in the field, learning the mechanical fundamentals of our processes and contributing to ongoing engineering projects.
What you'll do#
- Learn the mechanical and process fundamentals of steel making.
- Execute maintenance and engineering projects centered on safety, cost, and reliability.
- Support our preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
- Apply your skills in areas like fabrication, fluid power, power transmission, and pneumatics.
- Uphold and lead safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a rising Junior or Senior in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
- Fundamental knowledge in mechanical engineering or industrial maintenance.
- Experience with drafting or 3D modeling.
- Willingness to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
