About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on-site at the Steel Dynamics Flat Roll Division in Sinton, Texas. The role balances office-based engineering work with hands-on industrial tasks. You will work directly with operators and maintenance teams to apply engineering principles to real-world equipment and systems.
What you'll do#
- Support operations and projects using engineering principles in both office and industrial settings.
- Conduct experiments, analyze data, and prepare reports on your findings.
- Collaborate with engineers and operations staff to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Identify operational trends, recommend improvements, and develop trials based on those needs.
- Perform hands-on work with mechanical systems and maintenance tasks alongside operators.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering degree program.
- A GPA of 2.7 or higher is preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and maintenance knowledge.
- Comfort performing hands-on work in an industrial environment.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with operators.
