About the role#
NJM Insurance Group is hiring an Actuarial Student Worker to join our team in Trenton. You will gain experience in the insurance industry by working with one of our main teams, such as Personal Auto Pricing, Property Pricing, Commercial Lines Pricing, or Reserving. This role offers flexible hours between 12 and 20 hours per week, scheduled around your academic obligations.
What you'll do#
- Learn about the insurance industry and apply basic actuarial techniques to business problems.
- Use Excel, SQL, SAS, and PowerBi to complete various projects.
- Lead a pricing or reserving project, develop recommendations, and present your findings to management.
- Conduct research and provide ad-hoc assistance to actuaries on current projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's or master's program.
- Pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Advanced skills in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- A willingness to learn about Property and Casualty Insurance.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and on a team.

- This position is based in Trenton, New Jersey.
- Work is on-site with some flexibility for remote work.
- This is a paid, part-time position with a rolling start date.
