About the role#
NJM Insurance Group is hiring Actuarial Interns for the Summer 2027 program. You will work within one of our core teams, such as Personal Auto Pricing, Property Pricing, Commercial Lines Pricing, or Reserving. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Trenton, New Jersey.
What you'll do#
- Learn the fundamentals of the insurance industry and apply basic actuarial techniques to real business problems.
- Lead a pricing or reserving project, develop recommendations based on your analysis, and present your findings to management.
- Conduct research and provide ad-hoc support for ongoing departmental projects.
- Use Excel, SQL, SAS, and PowerBi to gather, transform, and extract insights from data.
- Collaborate with actuaries on daily tasks and gain professional experience in an insurance setting.
What you'll need#
- You are currently a Sophomore or Junior pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, or Accounting.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
- You are a self-directed learner who picks up new skills quickly.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are essential.
- You are comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
