About the role#
Wharton-Smith, Inc. is hiring a part-time, paid Accounting Intern to join our team in Sanford. This role supports our accounting staff with financial documentation and vendor management. We are looking for someone who pays close attention to detail and wants to gain experience in construction accounting.
What you'll do#
- Verify that transactions follow financial policies and procedures.
- Enter invoices and pay applications for approval.
- Prepare vendor payments and remittances for mailing, online, or phone processing.
- Maintain project records, including contracts and change orders.
- Respond to accounts payable inquiries from vendors and internal staff.
- Analyze vendor accounts and monitor payments for accuracy.
- Manage corporate credit card accounts for the division office.
- Handle general administrative tasks, including phone calls, email correspondence, and lien waiver reviews.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Accounting or Business Administration program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy in your work.
