About the role#
The Financial Times is hiring for a full-time Specialist Newsroom Fellow. This is a one-year rotational program based in New York. You will work across different editorial teams to gain experience in reporting and business journalism. This role is paid at an annual salary of $66,300.
What you'll do#
- Rotate through various editorial teams to learn the newsroom.
- Gather news, conduct interviews, analyze documents, and craft stories.
- Create content in multiple formats, including written articles, video, and graphics.
- Attend editorial meetings and work closely with editors and peers.
- Build a portfolio of published clips and develop professional sources.
- Receive mentorship from a group managing editor.
What you'll need#
- A recent undergraduate degree. Please note that Master’s degree holders are not eligible for this program.
- An interest in business and economic topics.
- A strong desire to learn and grow as a journalist.
- Eagerness to find and tell compelling stories.
- No prior journalism experience is required.

- This role is based in New York, New York.
- The position follows a hybrid work model, averaging two to three days onsite per week.
- This is a full-time, one-year program.
