About the role#
The Indigenous Student Employment Program offers students practical, career-related experience in research and development, engineering, technology, administration, library science, computer science, trades, business, technology advice services, finance, and human resources. This program aims to provide students with exposure to leading-edge projects within a collaborative and creative environment.

- Utilize specialized equipment, facilities, and technical expertise.
- Participate in various programs across multiple professional fields.
What you'll need#
- Self-declare as an Indigenous person (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis).
- Hold a high school diploma or grade 12 equivalent.
- Be currently enrolled at a recognized educational institution and planning to return to full-time studies in the next semester.
- Ability to work full-time during non-academic semesters or part-time during academic semesters.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Reliability Status background check, which includes a 5-year verification of background information.
Location & details#
- Term: Summer 2026 (approximately 16 weeks).
- Work Modality: Hybrid. Positions may require working onsite at least three times per week or 60% of the regular schedule, though exceptions may be available for Indigenous candidates with community connections.
- Location: Various National Research Council offices across Ontario, Canada.
- Compensation: Weekly salary ranges from $664 to $1,436 based on the number of completed academic semesters.
