The Indigenous Student Employment Program offers students practical, career-related experience in research and development, engineering, technology, and various administrative fields. You will work in an intellectually stimulating environment with access to specialized equipment, facilities, and expertise while contributing to projects that impact Canada and the world.
What you'll do#
- Gain professional work experience in fields such as research, engineering, technology, business, and human resources.

- Participate in various programs across multiple fields of study.
- Collaborate with teams to develop solutions.
What you'll need#
- Self-declare as an Indigenous person (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis).
- Hold a high school diploma or grade 12 equivalent.
- Be currently studying at a recognized educational institution and planning to return to full-time studies.
- Ability to work full-time during non-academic semesters and part-time during academic semesters.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Reliability Status background check, which includes a 5-year verification of background information.
Location & details#
- Location: Opportunities are available across Canada, including Ontario.
- Term: Approximately 16 weeks (4 months).
- Work Modality: Hybrid arrangements are available depending on operational requirements. Employees working remotely are typically expected to travel to the designated work site at least three times per week (or 60% of their schedule), though exceptions may be made for Indigenous candidates with community connections.
- Compensation: Weekly salary ranges from $664 to $1,436 based on the number of completed academic semesters.
