About the role#
The Anthropic Fellows Program is a full-time, four-month research initiative designed to foster talent in AI research and engineering. Fellows receive mentorship from Anthropic researchers and work on empirical projects aligned with the organization's research priorities. The program aims to produce public outputs, such as paper submissions, and provides access to compute resources and a shared workspace. This specific workstream focuses on Economics and Policy.
What you'll do#
- Conduct empirical research on the economic effects of AI.
- Develop new methodological approaches to study AI's impact on labor markets.
- Analyze the offense-defense balance for AI-enabled cyber and bio capabilities as models scale.
- Measure model performance increases using custom harnesses.
- Identify market-driven mechanisms to improve societal resilience against threats from AI systems.
What you'll need#
- A strong technical background in computer science, mathematics, or physics.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
- A strong background in a discipline relevant to the Economics and Policy workstream, such as economics, social sciences, or cybersecurity.
- Experience in research or engineering related to the workstream.
- A deep motivation to ensure AI is safe and beneficial for society.
- Ability to work full-time for the duration of the four-month program.

- Modality: Hybrid (with options for remote work in select regions).
- Locations: United States (California) and Canada (Ontario).
- Status: This is a paid, full-time position.
