About the role#
The Anthropic Fellows Program is designed to foster AI research and engineering talent by providing funding and mentorship for empirical projects. Fellows work full-time for 4 months on projects aligned with our research priorities, with the goal of producing a public output such as a research paper. This program facilitates connection to the broader AI safety and security research community and includes a project selection and mentor matching process.
What you'll do#
- Conduct full-time research for a 4-month term.
- Execute an empirical project aligned with our research priorities, potentially including building CPU simulators, adding backends for accelerators, or developing synthetic data pipelines.
- Collaborate across research and engineering disciplines.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members.
- Analyze and debug model training processes using large-scale distributed systems or high-performance computing.
What you'll need#
- Strong technical background in computer science, mathematics, or physics.
- Fluency in Python programming.
- Strong software engineering skills with experience building complex ML systems.
- Experience in research or engineering areas related to machine learning systems and performance.
- Ability to work full-time for the duration of the program.
- Capability to balance research exploration with engineering rigor and operational reliability.
Location & details#
- Modality: Remote-friendly, with optional shared workspaces available in San Francisco, California and London, UK.
- Eligibility: Applicants must have or independently obtain full-time work authorization in the United States, United Kingdom, or Canada. We do not provide visa sponsorship for this program.
- Status: This is a full-time, paid position with a rolling application process.
