About the role#
The Anthropic Fellows Program is a full-time research initiative designed to foster talent in AI safety, security, and engineering. Fellows receive funding and mentorship to conduct empirical research projects, with the primary goal of producing a public output such as a paper submission. This program spans multiple workstreams including AI Safety, AI Security, ML Systems and Performance, Reinforcement Learning, and Economics and Policy.
What you'll do#
- Conduct full-time research for a duration of 4 months.
- Participate in a project selection and mentor matching process to align with Anthropic research priorities.
- Collaborate with researchers and peers in shared workspaces.
- Engage with the broader AI safety and security research community.
- Utilize external infrastructure, such as open-source models and public APIs, to execute empirical projects.
What you'll need#
- Fluency in Python programming.
- A strong technical background in computer science, mathematics, or physics.
- Experience with empirical machine learning research projects.
- Ability to implement ideas quickly.
- Motivation to ensure AI is safe and beneficial for society.
- While not required for every candidate, experience in disciplines such as cybersecurity, economics, sociology, or human resources is valued depending on the specific workstream.
