About the role#
The Provenance Intern works with the Registrar's Office to research and document the ownership histories of works in the permanent collection and potential acquisitions. This position provides hands-on experience in collections management, registration practices, and museum documentation.
What you'll do#
- Research the provenance of artworks and objects using library resources, online databases, and institutional archives.
- Review acquisition files, auction records, and exhibition histories to identify gaps in ownership information.
- Update records in the museum's collections management system.
- Compile research findings for the Registrar and Curators.
- Maintain accurate physical and digital object files.
- Support due diligence efforts for new acquisitions and loans.
- Assist with special collections and registration projects as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current studies in Art or History.
- Ability to conduct archival and database research.
- Familiarity with museum standards and best practices.
- Knowledge of collection records and documentation processes.

- This is an on-site role in Houston, Texas.
- The position is paid and full-time.
