About the role#
The Teen & Family Museum Education Fellow supports museum programs for children, caregivers, and teens. This paid fellowship provides training and mentorship to emerging museum educators. It is designed for individuals who have completed a bachelor’s degree or developed comparable experience through employment, internships, teaching, or community work. We encourage applicants from communities historically underrepresented in cultural institutions to apply.
What you'll do#
- Help plan and implement recurring programs like Family Saturdays and community celebrations.
- Support weekly Teen Arts Group meetings and assist with teen workshops and events.
- Complete a structured training sequence covering equity, accessibility, youth development, and program design.
- Contribute to developing practical resources and recommendations to strengthen future programming.
- Prepare art materials, coordinate with volunteers, and assist with program evaluation and reporting.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- At least 1 year of experience working with children, families, or teens in an educational, museum, or community setting.
- Experience planning or facilitating workshops, tours, or youth programs.
- Ability to manage multi-step assignments, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and general computer use.
- Availability for weekly Thursday afternoon and evening meetings, plus selected Saturday programs.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site position based in Seattle, Washington.
- The fellowship runs from October 6, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
- The schedule is approximately 13 hours per week, primarily on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with specific Saturday commitments.
