About the role#
ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain is seeking an Early Childhood Education Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This internship provides undergraduate and graduate students with practical experience in informal teaching. Interns support the ECHO Early Learning (EEL) program, which serves children ages 0-5 and their caregivers. This role involves working with economically and culturally diverse families and offers mentorship from experienced early childhood educators.
What you'll do#
- Assist lead instructors with daily learning activities and crafts with an emphasis on STEAM.
- Set up and clean up for the EEL program.
- Collaborate with an advisor on ECHO-related early childhood educational projects.
- Engage in curriculum building, including learning to design activities around the Vermont Early Learning Standards.
What you'll need#
- An understanding of early childhood development.
- Experience working with young children.
- Experience working independently and in diverse teams.
- Self-motivation to complete projects in a timely fashion.
- Flexibility and adaptability to complete a wide variety of tasks, including light cleaning.
- An eagerness to engage young children in daily learning activities.
Location & details#
- Location: Burlington, Vermont.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 am to 12:00 pm (7 hours per week), plus 1-2 hours per week for curriculum building.
- Compensation: This is a paid position.
- Eligibility: Open to students in majors including Psychology, Nursing, Public Health, Health Administration, Kinesiology, Biology, Human Resources, and Sociology.
