About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to apply your technical training within the reinsurance industry. You will work with experienced professionals to build models and tools that support underwriting, pricing, and claims management. This role is a full-time, paid position based in New York for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Develop statistical, machine learning, and GenAI techniques for core business processes.
- Build and implement solutions to improve the quality and speed of underwriting, pricing, and claims management.
- Research new modeling methods to generate actionable insights.
- Collaborate across different functions to understand how analytics influences business decisions.
- Network with existing data science groups within the company.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python, along with familiarity with SQL or R.
- Experience working with varied and disparate data sources.
- Familiarity with the full analytics modeling lifecycle.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a changing environment.
- Preferred: Experience with git, AI coding tools, LLM APIs, building agents, or a background in insurance or financial services.

- Modality: Hybrid, with at least 3 days per week required in the office.

- Compensation: $44 to $54 per hour.
