About the role#
The Quantitative Biosciences Cellular Pharmacology & Lead Discovery team is looking for a student to join our internship program. You will work alongside experienced scientists to help discover and develop new medicines for cancer and cardiometabolic disorders. This role focuses on executing critical cellular assays to evaluate and characterize preclinical therapeutic candidates.
What you'll do#
- Execute cellular assays to support compound screening and mechanism of action studies.
- Learn about laboratory automation and how it improves throughput and data quality.
- Use industry-standard data analysis tools and maintain accurate records using electronic lab notebooks.
- Communicate project progress during internal meetings.
- Participate in scientific exchange with company scientists.
- Deliver a verbal presentation at the end of your training.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a full-time degree program in biology, biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Completion of at least 2 years of undergraduate study or at least 1 year of a master’s or PhD program.
- Experience with aseptic technique, good cell culture practice, and general cell biology lab techniques.
- Ability to work independently within a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a record of academic achievement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: South San Francisco, California.
- Term: 10-12 weeks, beginning in May or June 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, on-site.
- This is a paid internship. No visa sponsorship is available for this position.
