About the role#
This six-month co-op position within the Nonclinical Drug Safety (NDS) Digital Operations and Innovation team focuses on developing agentic, augmented authoring systems. The goal is to create a zero-draft process that retrieves, combines, and formats data from various sources into consistent templates for scientists. You will contribute to modernizing how nonclinical safety supports the development of medicines by building AI-driven pipelines that accelerate reporting timelines.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement agentic workflows and orchestration pipelines to automate the retrieval, synthesis, and formatting of nonclinical safety data.
- Develop data extraction pipelines in Python to parse and clean structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
- Evaluate and benchmark LLM outputs for accuracy, formatting consistency, and alignment with reporting templates.
- Collaborate with data scientists and scientific SMEs to translate document-authoring steps into automated agent tools.
- Participate in agile sprints, contribute to code reviews, and maintain documentation via GitHub.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a highly quantitative research-focused field.
- Strong proficiency in Python programming.
- Solid understanding of data structures.
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, agentic tool use, and orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, CrewAI, or LlamaIndex.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Experience with vector databases and document embedding techniques.
- Experience with text processing, OCR, and principles of NLP and NLP evaluation.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS/GCP) and version control using Git/GitHub.
- Exposure to building lightweight developer UIs and dashboards.
