About the role#
This co-op program offers a 4-6 month opportunity within the Vaccines and Advanced Biotechnologies Process Research & Development division. You will work under the direction of a project mentor on assignments that support the development and scale-up of vaccine production processes. This position is a full-time, paid role designed to provide hands-on experience in a research environment.
What you'll do#
- Conduct laboratory benchwork to execute, optimize, and troubleshoot downstream process unit operations.
- Design, execute, and analyze process development experiments to maximize understanding of purification bioprocesses.
- Contribute to the development of new principles, concepts, and methods for technology transfer to manufacturing scale.
- Perform basic analytical techniques and document experimental results.
- Participate in pilot-scale campaigns for the GMP manufacture of bulk clinical material, including preparation, execution, and closeout.
- Present findings in both verbal and written formats to your team.
- Maintain accurate records, follow instructions, and prioritize laboratory safety.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a minimum of a BS/BA program in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Availability to work full-time for 4-6 months during 2027.
- Proven ability to work in a hands-on laboratory setting.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple tasks, and learn new techniques.
- Scientific understanding of downstream bioprocess purification processes and purification operations for large complex molecules is preferred.
