About the role#
We are looking for an intern to join the Material and Analytical Sciences department in Ridgefield, Connecticut. You will build an in silico predictive modeling framework to assess how formulation composition and conditions affect biomolecular solution viscosity. This work aims to speed up the development of new therapeutic candidates by identifying viscosity risks early. You will help create optimized formulations that improve manufacturability, stability, and patient usability.
What you'll do#
- Implement molecular modeling, molecular dynamics simulations, and machine learning approaches using principles from statistical mechanics, biophysics, and soft matter.
- Develop a transferable and scalable in silico viscosity prediction platform.
- Use insights from scientific literature and experimental datasets to support your models.
- Evaluate and benchmark multiple computational viscosity prediction strategies.
- Engage with industry stakeholders and present your progress and final results in internal meetings.
- Contribute to internal report documentation or publications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate, graduate, or advanced degree student in an accredited college or university.
- A major or minor in computational biophysics, computational chemistry, soft matter physics, chemical engineering, or a related discipline.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours, and graduate students must have completed at least 9 credit hours.
- Strong background in molecular modeling and modern simulation tools such as Gromacs, LAMMPS, OpenMM, or the Schrodinger Suite.
- Experience with force-field parameterization, enhanced-sampling, and free-energy calculation methods.
- Proficiency in Python or other scientific computing languages, including experience with trajectory-analysis tools like MDTraj or MDAnalysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without restriction.
Location & details#
- Location: Ridgefield, Connecticut.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Employment type: Full-time internship.
