About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in engineering within a food and beverage manufacturing environment. You will work alongside Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams to support infrastructure improvements, equipment modernization, and automation projects. The role focuses on evaluating systems and analyzing performance data to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering projects that drive infrastructure improvements, equipment modernization, and automation across manufacturing operations.
- Evaluate current systems and analyze performance data to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Develop practical solutions and recommendations that support continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Present a summer project presentation at the conclusion of the internship.
- Attend semi-monthly seminar series across different Mountaire facilities.
- Complete assigned tasks identified by your department mentor and participate in evaluations at weeks 5 and 10.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Agricultural, Civil, Manufacturing, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar computer-aided design software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word and Excel.
- A valid Driver's license and the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check.

- Location: Siler City, North Carolina.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Availability: Interns must be available to travel to Millsboro, Delaware, during the week of August 2-6, 2027, for final project presentations.
- Status: This is a paid, full-time internship position.
