About the role#
This internship supports the Maintenance and Engineering teams at our Lumber Bridge facility. You will focus on evaluating water usage and identifying opportunities for conservation and efficiency. You will work alongside Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations staff to review process and instrumentation diagrams, analyze water distribution systems, and assess current consumption practices. This role is designed to help you gain hands-on experience with industrial utility systems and sustainability initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Lead a water conservation and savings improvement project to reduce consumption and improve resource efficiency.
- Review P&IDs and evaluate facility water systems to identify process improvements.
- Analyze water usage data and system performance to support data-driven recommendations.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams to develop practical sustainability solutions.
- Attend a seminar series and complete a project presentation at the end of the summer.
- Complete performance evaluations at weeks 5 and 10.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Mechanical, Industrial, Environmental, Agricultural, Chemical, or Civil Engineering.
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to pass a motor vehicle record check.
- Ability to travel to Delaware for final project presentations during the week of August 2-6, 2027.
