About the role#
This summer internship supports Breeder Operations through hands-on research and evaluation projects. You will work alongside Live Operations, Veterinary Services, and Breeder Management teams to study factors that influence bird health and flock performance. The role focuses on evaluating vaccination processes and understanding how breeder management impacts hatchery operations. You will support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing bird welfare and overall production results.
What you'll do#
- Evaluate breeder vaccination processes through trial work and validation activities.
- Collect and analyze flock health and performance data.
- Gain exposure to breeder flock management and bird husbandry practices.
- Support initiatives to improve breeder and broiler flock health.
- Collaborate with Breeder Operations, Veterinary Services, and Live Production teams.
- Complete tasks assigned by your department mentor.
- Attend a semi-monthly seminar series.
- Complete and present a summer project presentation.
- Complete internship evaluations at weeks 5 and 10.
- Follow all company safety policies and standard operating procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Poultry Science degree program.
- Familiarity with poultry farming and breeder operations.
- Ability to work independently and manage time in a field-based environment.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
- Willingness to work outdoors in a farm setting during summer weather.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to pass a motor vehicle record check.

- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- Interns must be available to travel to Millsboro, Delaware, for final project presentations during the week of August 2-6, 2027.
