    About the role#

    This summer internship supports the Environmental Health and Safety team at our Lumber Bridge facility. You will focus on improving energy control programs and managing hazardous energy within our manufacturing environment. This role involves direct interaction with equipment and cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance and employee safety.

    What you'll do#

    • Conduct hands-on reviews of equipment and hazardous energy sources to strengthen LOTO compliance.
    • Revise and develop LOTO standard operating procedures.
    • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Safety teams to ensure clear and accurate safety documentation.
    • Complete assigned tasks from your department mentor and attend semi-monthly seminars.
    • Present a project summary at the conclusion of the program.
    • Complete evaluations at week 5 and week 10.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a degree program for Safety Management, Safety Engineering, OSEH, EHS, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
    • A valid Driver's license.
    • Ability to pass the Mountaire Motor Vehicle Record check.

    • Location: Lumber Bridge, North Carolina.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Modality: On-site, full-time.
    • Note: Interns must be available to travel to Millsboro, Delaware, for final project presentations during the week of August 2-6, 2027.
