    About the role#

    This internship supports the Veterinary Services team at Mountaire Farms. You will research and gather data on bird health, welfare, and biosecurity across hatcheries, breeder operations, and grow-out facilities. You will work alongside Veterinary Services and Live Production teams to identify health trends and support improvements in broiler production.

    What you'll do#

    • Collect and analyze serology, virology, necropsy, and embryo assessment data.
    • Research health and performance trends to identify areas for improvement.
    • Help the Veterinary Services team evaluate current and new vaccination and health programs.
    • Present findings and recommendations to support bird health, welfare, and production outcomes.
    • Complete an assigned project, attend weekly seminars, and deliver a final presentation in early August 2027.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in or acceptance into a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program.
    • Background in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Pre-Veterinary Studies, or a related field.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel to organize and interpret biological and production data.
    • Strong analytical and observational skills.
    • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
    • A valid driver's license and the ability to pass a Mountaire Motor Vehicle Record check.

    • Location: Candor, North Carolina.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Modality: On-site, full-time.
    • Compensation: This is a paid internship.
    • Travel: You must be available to travel to Delaware for final presentations during the week of August 2-6, 2027.
