About the role#
Motorola Solutions is hiring for a Cyber Security Internship for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position based in the Chicago and Schaumburg area. You will act as an advisor to help solve business problems and partner with different areas of the company to bring new ideas to our projects.
What you'll do#
- Monitor and review logs to spot unusual activity across our networks and devices.
- Collaborate with business teams to deliver creative solutions.
- Apply your technical skills to analyze security events and document your findings.
What you'll need#
- You must have a High School Diploma and be currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity with a graduation date of May 2028 or later.
- Hands-on experience with SIEM tools like Splunk or Elastic Stack.
- Knowledge of Windows, Linux, iOS, and virtual environments.
- Networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP and HTTP, including tools like Wireshark, Nmap, and TCPDump.
- Experience with forensic tools like FTK, Autopsy, or Volatility.
- Familiarity with endpoint detection, network-based intrusion detection (SNORT or Suricata), and cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Ability to write scripts in Python, Java, Go, or other modern languages.
- Understanding of email protocols and investigation techniques.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and a desire for continuous learning.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Chicago and Schaumburg, Illinois.
- The position follows a hybrid work model, requiring you to be in the office 2 days per week.
- Applicants must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely, as sponsorship is not available.
