About the role#
The Washington Mystics are preparing for their 30th anniversary in 2027. We are looking for a 30th Anniversary Legacy Intern to join the Marketing Department. You will help collect, organize, and catalog the stories and artifacts that define our franchise history. This role is ideal for students interested in sports history, public history, archives, or storytelling.
What you'll do#
- Collect photographs, memorabilia, and documents from fans, former players, and community members.
- Maintain a digital catalog of artifacts including ownership details and condition reports.
- Manage the intake, tracking, storage, and return of items throughout the loan process.
- Organize meetings for the Mystics Heritage Committee by preparing agendas and notes.
- Research significant players, milestones, and traditions in team history.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to create content for social, web, and email platforms.
- Assist with the planning of historical exhibits and special anniversary events.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program. Studies in Museum Studies, Library & Information Science, Public History, or Archives are preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- An interest in women's sports, sports history, or archival work.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or database management is a plus.

- This is a paid, part-time, seasonal internship based in Washington, DC.
- The role is on-site.
