About the role#
This paid internship offers hands-on experience in sports management, local marketing, and event execution. You will work directly with the Athletic Director, splitting your time between weekday office tasks and weekend league operations. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in building a portfolio in the youth sports industry.
What you'll do#
- Execute marketing campaigns to drive program enrollment.
- Lead promotional efforts like flyer distribution and signage placement.
- Act as a brand ambassador at community events.
- Analyze local demographics and competitor offerings to identify growth opportunities.
- Perform outreach to local schools and businesses.
- Manage weekend league operations at venue sites.
- Track and organize sports gear, uniforms, and site equipment.
- Assist with venue setup and tear-down.
- Support officiating and coaching instruction for youth ages 3 to 14.
- Provide guidance to volunteer coaches.
- Serve as a main point of contact for families on game days.
- Gather feedback from participants to help improve operations.
What you'll need#
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Sports Management, Marketing, Business Administration, Recreation, or a related field.
- Availability for both weekday office hours and weekend league shifts.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation to travel to sites.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs of equipment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Must pass a standard background check.
Location & details#
- Location: Fairfax, Virginia.
- Pay: $13.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Part-time, 15 to 20 hours per week.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Term: Rolling enrollment for Fall, Winter, Spring, or Summer.
