About the role#
MNP is hiring a Co-op Accountant for the Winter 2027 term in Peterborough, Ontario. This is a full-time, paid position that requires on-site attendance. You will work with the Assurance and Accounting team to provide financial information and support to clients.
What you'll do#
- Build technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards.
- Set up files for new clients, manage multiple projects at once, and conduct inventory counts.
- Perform walk-throughs with clients regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital assets.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Assess audit evidence for revenues, expenses, and asset additions.
- Investigate and correct discrepancies in financial documents and entries.
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting.
- Write technical reports, client summaries, and correspondence to outline engagement findings.
- Collaborate with your team and build relationships with client contacts.
- Suggest new approaches to improve work processes using internal systems.
- Travel as necessary for client engagements.
What you'll need#
- Completion of, or progress toward, a bachelor degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Completion of, or progress toward, prerequisites for the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- Flexibility to travel.

- Term: Winter 2027 (January to April).

- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: $45,000 to $65,000 annually.
- Previous office experience, customer service experience, and familiarity with accounting or tax software are considered assets.
